She had so many qualities to be celebrated, but, on this page I would like to celebrate her amazing culinary skills.
My mother was a wonderful cook, born of a Hungarian Father & a German Mother who was also an amazing cook.
Mum could whip up a delicious 3 course meal, from scratch of course! on a bench space of about 2 foot x 2 foot in a matter of an hour or less!
She delighted in making special treats for all her family and friends.
It was no trouble for her to whip up a heavenly nutty layer cake for any special occasion.
And, sometimes the special occasion was simply that she had invited someone for lunch. Mum just loved having her family and friends around her... if there was company.. it was a special occasion!
Her cakes were amazing, her noodles incredible, her soups, roasts and stews were so comforting. Her recipes delighted all those who knew her!
She would even whip up amazing vegetarian meals for her vegetarian friends.. no problem ;)
To this day... I'm sure her secret ingredient was ... love!
Recently I found some of Mum's recipes in a folder. In order to preserve them I photographed them and am now translating her delicious Hungarian recipes into English. These are recipes she obviously used.. check out the stains on them. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
